Toddler Rescues Twin from Falling IKEA Dresser
On Friday morning, a toddler became pinned underneath his bedroom dresser in Orem, Utah. His twin brother rescued him from the Ikea dresser by moving the piece of furniture off him, which took about two minutes. Despite vigilant efforts at childproofing and placing surveillance cameras around the home, the parents did not witness the accident until checking the camera after the fact. The parents felt compelled to post the video on social media as a warning to other parents. Luckily, the child survived the accident without any injuries.
Dressers, especially the Malm dresser model made by Ikea, must be anchored in place to the wall, so that they do not fall, endangering young children. Even parents who consistently monitor their children cannot prevent an accident when the quality of a product is defective or dangerous in some way.
