Kansas Oil-Drilling Explosion Injures Five

Construction Accident Lawyer: An oil-drilling explosion, which took place south of Sharon Springs in Wallace County, Kansas, on Monday, December 12, seriously injured five workers. That morning, the workers were adding pipe on a rig when the gas drifted upward and covered the deck floor of the warming hut, which contained running heaters. The combination of the gas and extreme heat may have worked together to cause the explosion. The Wallace County Fire Chief suspects that something electric sparked to instigate the explosion.

Once emergency crews arrived on the scene of the Kansas oil field, they kept the fire from the explosion at bay and immediately extinguished it. The five workers were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two workers who sustained critical injuries were airlifted to a hospital located in Tribune, Kansas.
